January 2009 Annual Meeting Minutes

The tenth annual general membership meeting was called to order by Commodore Carlile on January 24th.

Attending were: Carlile, Day, Henking, Koulogianes, Peter, Robbins, and van Stolk.

A Quorum was noted.

A healthy financial report followed. The club has no debt and a balance sufficient to look beyond our current activities. A motion to authorize becoming dues-paying members of US Sailing and DIYRA (if this can be done for $200 or less), seconded and adopted with no dissent. Mark was reimbursed for $355.31 for expenses paid on behalf of the club.

After some discussion it was decided to maintain dues at $40 for the year.

The Fall racing report was presented by Racing Committee Chair Koulogianes. The club had 8 members participate and four members met the 60% participation threshold. Mark van Stolk was 2008 Fall series champion, Steve Koulogianes came in second and Darin Day came third (John Gray closely followed in fourth place).

The Spring schedule of 7 outings was presented, discussed, amended, and ordered posted. It was decided that the venues for the later four events would be decided as the conditions became clearer. Dana offered his services to help start and time races whenever he was available.

The final agenda item was election of new officers. Vice Commodore Mark van Stolk moved to the position of Commodore. Nominations were sought for the position of Race Committee Chair. It was decided that John Gray had participated most intensively during the last two seasons and should be nominated in his absense, his candidacy was moved, seconded, passed without dissent, subject to his acceptance. For the position of Vice Chairman, Scott Robbins was nominated; Scott accepted the nomination, his candidacy was moved, seconded, passed without dissent. There were no nominations for Social Committee Chair.

N.B. John Gray later agreed to accept the position as Race Committee Chair for 2009.

It was decided that the summer event would be an afternoon picnic and moonlight sail for the socalled "Dead Elvis" sail (early Agust).

The meeting was closed.

Our thanks to Lise van Stolk for graciously hosting us for this meeting and potluck dinner.

Special thanks to Jeff for service to the club the last two years and Steve for his contribution as RC Chair.

First race day of the Spring schedule will be Saturday March 14th.
