2008 Annual Meeting Minutes

The ninth annual general membership meeting was called to order by Commodore Peter.

Attending were: Carlile, Day, Gray, Henking, Koulogianes, Peter, Robbins, and van Stolk.

A Quorum was noted.

A healthy financial report followed. The club has no debt and a balance sufficient to support the purchase of equipment.

A motion to authorize purchase of new marks and an automated starter was moved, seconded, adopted with no dissent.

The Fall racing report was presented by Racing Committee Chair Mark van Stolk. The club had 6 members participate but only one member met the 60% participation threshold. Mark van Stolk was 2007 Fall series champion.

The Spring schedule of 7 outings was presented, discussed, amended, and ordered posted.

Mark van Stolk presented proposed changes in the Constitution and By-Laws, per discussion at the last AGM, as well as a one word revision of the Charter.

The Charter revision was moved, seconded, adopted with no dissent.

The proposed revisions to the Constitution and By-Laws were discussed, moved, seconded, adopted with no dissent.

In brief, we: 1) reduced club officers to Commodore, Vice Commodore, Race Committee Chair, and a ad hoc Social Committee Chair; 2) made the wording and requirements a bit friendlier for guests; 3) allowed the RC Chair to establish a provisional rating for craft currently unrated under Portsmouth.

The old business was followed by a discussion of how to increase membership and participation. The consensus was that the near drought conditions of the last two years have prevented us from sailing in visible, populated, convenient areas. We resolved to choose those areas whenever feasible.

The final agenda item was election of new officers. Vice Commodore Carlile moved to Commodore. Nominations were accepted for the position of Race Committee Chair; Steve Koulogianes accepted the nomination, his candidacy was moved, seconded, passed without dissent. For the position of Vice Chairman, Mark van Stolk was nominated; Mark accepted the nomination, his candidacy was moved, seconded, passed without dissent. There were no nominations for Social Committee Chair.

The meeting was closed.

Our thanks to Lise and Mark van Stolk for graciously hosting us in their home.

Special thanks to Jon (& Teresa) Peter for service to the club the last two years.

First race day of the Spring schedule will be Saturday 15 March.
