I want to sail, but I don’t really want to race. Does TASC host any kind of non-racing events? Occasionally TASC does, but we are primarily a racing club - allbeit rather low-key. Keep in mind: there is racing and then there is RACING. TASC is a very casual club, and we do not race because we are obsessed with competition. We race because it gives purpose to our sailing together, it is fun, it vastly improves our sailing skills (the best sailors in the world are all racers, or have been), and the bit of mild competition it does foster generates endless entertainment and camaraderie among our members, both on and off the race course. It is common for new sailors to be wary of racing. Part of the TASC philosophy is to make newcomers feel welcome and comfortable on the race course, so please come. No matter what level you are at - there will be others there with you. The more participants we have racing, the more fun all of us have, and that's why we all want to sail in the first place. Most of the members of TASC did not race before joining the club, but they wouldn't have it any other way now. And a couple of our other members are really experts - tap into them; all of us love to talk sailing and racing.
