Why is an established class association so important?
Because one-design class boats:
-
are easier to locate on the used market
-
have higher resale value
-
are easier to get parts for
-
have support from other owners with regards to maintenance, sailing, and
racing tips
-
are easy to race against other boats because they have established
handicap numbers
- possess a reputation (and often prestige) among sailors
boats without class associations lack many of these advantages.
