Sailing Instructions for all TASC Races

1. Rules
The races of the Tornado Alley Sailing Club will be
governed by:
2. Entries
Eligible boats may be entered by having its
skipper come within hail of the Race Committee directly prior
to
each race and by making known his intention to race. Eligibility
requirements for boats intending to participate are as detailed in
the Notice of Race, or in the Amendments to these Sailing
Instructions.
3. Notices To Competitors
Notices to competitors will be posted no later
than one day before the race on the TASC "Forum".
4. Changes to he Sailing Instructions
Any change to the Sailing Instructions will be
posted on the TASC "Forum" not
later than one day before the scheduled race start.
5. Signals Made Ashore
Signals made ashore will be made from a point designated by the TASC
Race Committee during the Skipper's Meeting.
6. Schedule of Races
Races are scheduled as detailed in the Notice
of Race or in Amendments to the Sailing Instructions, which will be
posted on the website at least one day before the scheduled race start.
7. Racing Area
Racing area will be as detailed by the TASC Race Committee during the Skipper's Meeting..
8. The Course
The courses will be as detailed in the Notice
of Race, or in the Amendments to the Sailing Instructions, or
during the Skipper's Meeting..
9. Marks
The marks will be as detailed by the TASC Race Committee during the Skipper's Meeting..
10. The Start
10.1 Races will be as detailed in the Notice
of Race, or in the Amendments to the Sailing Instructions, or during
the
Skipper's Meeting. Races will be started as follows.
The start sequence for first race will begin as soon as possible
after the meeting to allow the course to be set or adjusted if needed
and to allow all skippers at the meeting to get onto the course.
The TASC RC will utilize the Sound-Signal Starting System prescribed under Appendix Q
of US Sailing's 2005-2008 Prescriptions, appended to the ISAF
Racing

TASC will give notice during the skippers' meeting what sort of sound
(horn, whistle, voice) will be used, and notice as to what visual
signals, if any, will be used.
If visual signals are used, times shall be
taken from them; and the failure of a sound signal shall be disregarded.
Visual signals will be given in accordance with the table below:

The Starting Sequence, and signaling methods,
may be changed before the race at the discretion of the TASC Race
Committee.
10.2 The starting line will be as
detailed by the TASC Race Committee during the Skipper's Meeting.
10.3 Boats whose Preparatory Signal has
not been made shall keep clear of the starting area and of all boats
whose Preparatory Signal has been made.
10.4 A boat shall not start later
than 5 minutes after her Starting Signal. In the case that a "Rabbit Start" is used, no boat shall start later
than 1 minute after her Starting Signal
11. The Finish Line
The finish line will be as detailed by the TASC Race Committee during the Skipper's Meeting..
12. Time Limit
The time limit for boats on the course will be
as detailed by the TASC Race Committee
during the Skipper's Meeting.
13. Scoring
The scoring will be as detailed in the Notice
of Race, or in the Amendments to the Sailing Instructions, or
during the Skipper's Meeting.
14. Safety
TASC has elected that for all races a Type III
(or Type II) personal flotation device be worn by each competitor
while
racing. Competitors not complying with this instruction will be scored "DSQ". Furthermore, TASC encourages each competitor to wear the PFD
at all times when on the water..
15. Prizes
Prizes will be awarded as detailed in the
Notice of Race.
